A new book Hot Rod Racing the Golden Years - the most significant book to be published on the formula since the Hot Rod Yearbooks back in the 1980's. It captures superbly the atmosphere generated in the 1970's when at the height of its popularity large crowds flocked to watch their heroes in action every week. This book also has many of the sports most significant Hot Rod racing moments and as such is a real must for anyone interested in Hot Rod Racing. Developed in the mid-1960s as a ‘purer’ alternative to the ‘crash and bash’ of stock car racing, it soon became clear that there was a market for this non-contact form of saloon car racing on small oval circuits.
Over the decade the hot rod class moved from being a sport for the working man to one which had 'professional' teams racing in a national Grand Prix series. A World Championship and an international Test series were also contested as the formula fulfilled its potential.
Hot Rod racing has evolved even further since the 1970's, and it's all captured with over 200 photographs of the cars, the drivers, the circuits and the events from those golden years of racing.
